Last Friday we were pleased to welcome Dr Ben Smith, Clinical Director for Psychological Services and the Allied Health Professionals at NELFT NHS Foundation Trust and Graham Tanner, Medway Council’s Partnership Programme Commissioning Lead. They updated us on the changes to mental health services for young people in Medway, which changed providers on the 1st September 2017.
Dr Smith commented that NELFT is delighted to be the provider of Children and Young People’s Mental Health Services (CYPMHS) in Kent, the Young Persons Wellbeing Service (YPWS) in Medway and all Age Eating Disorder Services in Kent and Medway. The change officially took place on Friday 1st September, and since then we have been working hard to ensure a smooth transfer for all staff and patients involved. Two induction events were held in early September with approximately 300 attendees. We have put a number of measures in place to ensure that all new members of transferring staff feel supported and welcomed including senior management, IT and RiO support at every site for the first two weeks of business.
The Organisation Deputy Chair, George Peck said 'Meeting with our partners frequently is one of our priorities for MYC and myself and the Chair will be working with the newly elected Partnerships Director to ensure that we have a good relationship with important partners like the NHS, thank you to Dr Smith and Graham for coming along'.
