This conference was all about creating the new mandate for the UK Youth Parliament for the next 2 years.
The UK Youth Parliament has a mandate that is created and voted by the young people. All constituencies have youth representatives, that are called Members of Youth Parliament (MYP’s). Once a year all the MYP'S gather together as one voice, to vote on certain policies that they, alongside their youth constituents think needs to be worked and developed. All the policies that pass will become the new mandate for the UK Youth Parliament (UKYP). With that mandate all the MYP’s are going to work alongside the government and other organisations, depending on the constituency, and make the change that the people have voted for.
I represented Medway, with our policy being on the topic of changing and improving the school curriculum, giving the young people the voice and option on what they want to study.
That policy is one of many that is still in process of voting electronically, and hopefully, will pass with a good majority, looking at the already approved policies for education, which I voted in person at Hull University.
Any other questions or interview you may want to do with me, please don't hesitate to email me.
Kind regards and best wishes,
Ventsislav Lyubomirov
